We created AppAid as a new way to help based on the insight that people love their smart phones, but they rarely make you think about doing good in the world. AppAid is an app that links your mobile needs to good deeds. It helps you track how often you use your mobile. But it comes at a price. Every time you unlock your phone a small sum is added in the app for SOS Children’s Villages. With a single touch you can later decide to donate the money you’ve collected.
We launched the app with a simple video that showed you how it worked and why you should use it.
And although people in Sweden didn’t dare share in social channels about their mobile (over)usage, we saw that they did care enought to contribute a little bit of money here and there. We also saw that the Swedish online and mobile community liked the idea enough to write about it: M3 (IDG), Webbsverige, Swedroid, Feber, Svenska Apps.
Profile activity view: You can see how often you unlock your phone and get stats on how your behavior changes over time.
Profile detail view: See details about your usage such as interval and frequency as well as your total donation amount in the app.
Donation view: See your collected sum, change to a any amount and with a single touch, send a text message to donate.
